Montana is a superb place for serious and beginner birders alike. The state boasts an unusually large number of owls, bald eagles and golden eagles are often spotted from the highway and it's possible to see four different chickadee species in a day. Barrow's goldeneyes often outnumber common goldeneyes, and the once endangered Trumpeter swan, the largest waterfowl species native to North America, is making a successful comeback all over the state.
